What Happens During a Fire Extinguisher Inspection?

A fire extinguisher inspection is more than checking whether a unit is hanging on the wall. The technician is looking at access, placement, physical condition, pressure, seals, labeling, and whether the unit appears ready for use.

For a business owner or property manager, the value is documentation. A properly completed inspection creates a record showing that the equipment was reviewed, what condition it was in, and whether any deficiencies need follow-up.

Before the technician arrives, make sure extinguishers are visible and not blocked by storage, furniture, displays, or equipment. If a unit is missing, discharged, damaged, or has a broken seal, note it so it can be reviewed during service.
